About Commissioner Sherman
Originally from Michigan, Jeremy has called Washington, D.C., home for nearly a decade. His professional career has spanned the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, where he’s focused on strategy and innovation. He’s also been a small business owner and entrepreneur, learning firsthand how challenging and rewarding it can be. Jeremy is half-Colombian and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ and Jewish communities. Growing up speaking Spanish with his mom and abuela gave Jeremy a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives and the power of community.
Jeremy and his partner, Michael, live with their dog Oreo, and you’ll often find them exploring local restaurants, shopping at the Columbia Heights farmers market, or picking up trash to keep our streets clean. Jeremy serves as Director of Innovation & Strategic Initiatives at a national nonprofit organization. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in economics and strategy, and a minor in Political Science.
