Mission

The Education Committee serves in support of ANC 1A and will provide recommendations and advice on matters relating to education and youth within the District of Columbia, including issues that affect the schools and residents of 1A. The committee also seeks to keep members of the community informed on relevant issues and up to date on pending legislation and Council actions. It will explore community partnerships with public schools and local organizations serving area youth both in and out of schools. It will encourage residents in 1A to volunteer and work for the improvement of facilities and in support of personnel, resources, and policies needed to advance opportunitiesfor all persons within the District of Columbia, and particularly within the boundary of the Commission.
