ANC COMMISSIONERS ACROSS THE CITY SUPPORT FOR KEY EDUCATIONAL SUPPORTS AND USDA WAIVERS

DCPS has announced that it will start School Year 2020-2021 virtually with all students learning at home. This will apply for all grades — Pre-K through 12 — and last at least through Term 1 from August 31 to November 6.

If you haven’t had a chance and have a child in DCPS school, please take this technology survey

Another great resources is their Parent University, a series of workshops to answer some topic specific questions and help give you the tools you need to support your student.

There has been a lot of information to navigate so I’ve done my best to consolidate key FAQs and resources with some details specific to our students and families.

Mission

The Committee serves in support of ANC 1A and will provide recommendations and advice on matters relating to education and youth within the District of Columbia, including issues that affect the schools and residents of 1A. The committee also seeks to keep members of the community informed on relevant issues and up to date on pending legislation and Council actions. It will explore community partnerships with public schools and local organizations serving area youth both in and out of schools and encourage residents in 1A to volunteer and work in support of personnel, resources, and policies needed to advance opportunities for all persons within the District of Columbia, and particularly within the boundary of the Commission.

For meeting schedule and information, contact the Education Committee Chair and join the ANC 1A Education Committee Google Group.
